Apple Inc. is igniting Nigeria’s streaming market with its Apple TV streaming service. The Apple TV entry into the country for the first time is part of a wider expansion into 59 new markets. Nigerians will access the service through an iCloud+ bundle starting at N1,300 per month.
Announcing the expansion on Tuesday, September 15, Apple said it marked further step in taking Apple TV’s global reach to 170 countries, with the service expected to become available in Nigeria before the end of September 2026.
Rather than introduce Apple TV as a standalone streaming service, Apple is bundling it with paid iCloud+ plans. The entry-level of N1,300 monthly plan comes with 50GB of cloud storage, Apple TV, Apple Arcade and Apple Music Select, as well as iCloud+ privacy features.
The five paid iCloud+ plans available in Nigeria cost N1,300 for 50GB, N4,500 for 200GB, N14,900 for 2TB, N39,900 for 6TB and N66,900 for 12TB per month. All paid tiers include Apple TV and Apple Arcade and can be shared with up to five other people through Family Sharing.
The launch gives Nigerians official access to Apple’s streaming subscription seven years after the service launched globally in November 2019. Although the Apple TV app was already available locally, the streaming subscription and its catalogue were not.
Apple TV will offer access to Apple Original films, series, documentaries and children’s programmes, including Ted Lasso, The Studio, Severance, Pluribus, CODA and F1. Apple says its original productions have received more than 900 awards and over 3,800 nominations since the service launched.
The bundle also includes Apple Arcade, giving subscribers access to more than 200 games, including Football Manager 26 Touch, NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition, Hello Kitty Island Adventure and Sneaky Sasquatch.
Apple Music Select is also included, offering ad-free programmed stations featuring regional music, current songs and throwbacks. It is separate from the full Apple Music service, which remains a paid subscription. For iCloud+ customers, Apple is offering full Apple Music at discounted rates of N1,500 monthly for Individual and N2,500 for Family. This puts the combined cost of the entry-level iCloud+ plan and Apple Music Individual at N2,800 per month.
At N1,300, Apple’s entry-level bundle is below Netflix’s cheapest Nigerian plan, which currently costs N2,500. The comparison, however, is not directly like-for-like because Apple’s subscription combines video streaming with cloud storage, gaming and other services.
The Family Sharing option allows one subscription to serve up to six people, with each member using a separate Apple Account. While the storage allocation is shared, personal files, photos and viewing history remain private.
Apple’s entry comes as Nigeria’s streaming market undergoes changes. Showmax shut down its standalone service in April 2026, with MultiChoice moving its streaming offering to DStv Stream.
Apple’s approach also differs from a conventional streaming launch by using iCloud+ as the gateway to its entertainment services. This could appeal particularly to consumers who already pay for additional cloud storage and can now access Apple TV and Apple Arcade through the same subscription.
However, the platform’s Nigerian offering will be shaped by more than its price. Apple has not announced Nigerian original productions as part of the launch, while the availability of sports content such as Formula 1, Major League Soccer and Friday Night Baseball remains unclear for the Nigerian market.
Apple TV will work across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows and Android devices, as well as supported smart TVs, gaming consoles, streaming devices and web browsers. Consumers do not need an Apple TV 4K device to use the service.
Apple has not announced an exact activation date for every Nigerian user but says the rollout will be completed before the end of September. Existing iCloud+ subscribers will receive Apple TV and Apple Arcade as part of their plans once the new benefits become available.
