Audi Unveils New A2 E-tron Compact Electric Car

Volkswagen subsidiary, Audi, wants to boost its sales in Europe with a new compact electric car and take on competition from China.
The automaker unveiled the new A2 e-tron, a new edition of the A2 minivan produced until 2005, on Monday in Paris.
The model will roll off the line at its main plant in Ingolstadt and will go on sale in December.
Compact and efficient cars are in demand in Europe, Audi chief executive officer, Gernot Döllner said. Referring to intensifying competition from China, the head of the brand with the four rings said: “We see ourselves in a strong position when it comes to electric mobility.”
The new EV is expected to help end Audi’s weak sales performance.
The premium carmaker’s global sales fell for two consecutive years and declined by seven percent in the first half of 2026. The reasons are seen as fierce competition in China as well as US tariffs.
