The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, FUPRE, in collaboration with the African Child Foundation (ACF), has announced that the 2025 edition of the FUPRE Oil and Gas Awards would be held on November 6 at the university arena in Effurun, Delta State.
Now in its latest edition, the event has grown into one of Nigeria’s most respected platforms for celebrating excellence in the oil and gas industry. Speaking on the awards, FUPRE vice chancellor, Prof. Ezekiel O. Agbalagba described the university as Africa’s first petroleumfocused institution and one of only six globally dedicated to advancing oil and gas education.
Since its establishment in 2007, he said, FUPRE had remained committed to innovation, research and manpower development in the energy sector, providing a unique foundation for the awards.
The country director of the African Child Foundation, Dr. Donaldson Onosakponome explained that the awards were created to celebrate innovation, efficiency, safety, sustainability, and operational excellence in the oil and gas value chain.
“This year’s edition will not only recognize outstanding organizations and individuals but also spotlight the resilience of industry players whose efforts have contributed to Nigeria’s recent boost in oil production,” Dr. Onosakponome stated.
The organisers revealed that the 2025 awards would broaden their scope by including categories on renewable energy and datadriven innovation, aligning the ceremony with global trends in energy transition and sustainability.
Since inception, the FUPRE Awards have honored players across the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, alongside recognition for corporate social responsibility and environmentally conscious practices. Nominations and sponsorship opportunities for the 2025 ceremony are now open through FUPRE’s media office and the African Child Foundation.
