OGSG Commends Babcock For Initiating Innovation Venture

The Ogun State Government has commended Babcock University for setting up an Artificial Intelligence innovation Venture that will enhance students’ competence, make them become research focused and nurture their ideas. 

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, gave the commendation during the 2026 Artificial Intelligence’s (AI) and Babcock Innovation Venture (BIV) Summit in the school premise at Iperu, saying that the development of such initiative at a time like this in the country was apt. .

He recalled that the present administration’s technological innovations in education had repositioned the entire sector, making it a model to other States of the Federation. “It’s not a bad thing to use technology, Artificial Intelligence, however, it should be used with lots of circumspect to get the best out of the tool,’’ he said. 

Speaking, ViceChancellor, Babcock University, Prof. Afolarin Ojewole, said the institution was adopting a new system of education that transcends transferring knowledge to unraveling the innate abilities of students. 

On her part, one of the resource persons, Nicky Verd, submitted that Artificial Intelligence should be taken as an assistant while the thinking and justification of ideas should be done by its users, saying the future will not be led by those who solely rely on AI for answers but by those who use it to sharpen their thinking.
